FAQs
We have collated some of our frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions or would like an initial information conversation to see how we can help, please get in touch.
Why use us as an education provider?
Tutoring is an unregulated industry, allowing anyone to set up a profile without proper verification or background checks, such as an enhanced DBS.
At HST, we follow rigorous vetting and quality checks. We work with schools, charities and local authorities who demand the highest level of safeguarding. We are members of the Tutors' Association and follow their strict code of conduct.
Why don't you have a list of tutors to choose from?
Our commitment to personalised tutoring means we don’t publish lists of tutors on our website. We carefully match each student with the most suitable tutor based on their unique needs, goals, and learning style. This approach ensures a tailored and effective learning experience, maintaining privacy and security for both tutors and students.
What if I don't like the tutor?
The bond between a tutor and student is crucial to the learning process. If you find that your tutor isn’t the right fit for any reason, don’t hesitate to contact your area advisor. They will promptly address the issue and work to find a resolution or a more suitable replacement, ensuring your satisfaction with the tutoring experience.
What checks do you do?
As part of our robust safeguarding process, we ensure that our tutors all have a current enhanced DBS certificate. We seek professional references and check every tutor’s qualifications.
What is the cancellation policy?
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full. Tutors make every effort to be flexible and rearrange lessons whenever possible.

If you wish to finish tuition completely, we ask for 2 weeks notice.
How do I pay for lessons?
We use an online calendar platform (Tutor Cruncher) which you will receive access to once you have agreed tuition. Payment is taken after each lesson. You can store your card details to automate this process to make it really easy.
How much do lessons cost?
The exact cost varies, depending on the subject, level taught and the qualifications and experience of the tutor.

As a general guide it is between £35-£45 per hour lesson. Before you commit to lessons we will confirm the cost with you.
How long does it take to find the right tutor?
We aim to provide you with the right tutor within a week. Usually this is much quicker depending on the availability and requirements.
