FAQs
We have collated some of our frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions or would like an initial information conversation to see how we can help, please get in touch.
Who is my child’s tutor?
Our ethos is to ensure that all children have the right support, from the right person, at the right time.
We carefully match our tutors to each child. To do this we read any associated paperwork, discuss with parents/carers and meet the young person.
We know all of our tutors well including their experience and skills and use all of this information to ensure that the tutor is a good match. If you have any questions or queries regarding your allocated tutor please speak with us.
What will tutoring look like?
Every package of tuition is bespoke to the needs of each child.
We take into account the recommendations of professionals who are known to the child and the request from the commissioner.
Tuition may take place in your home. Where this is the case, we would ask that you provide a clear space for the tutor to work with your child. You will need to remain at home whilst the session takes place.
Sometimes we will tutor in a neutral venue (e.g. community centre or hall) or at the library. Where this happens, we tutor on a 2:1 basis and the arrangements will be agreed with you in advance.
We will discuss the arrangements for your child with you and gain consent before beginning.
What do I need to provide?
Our tutors will provide all resources and equipment for sessions. It is helpful if they are prepared with a drink of water.
If the tuition is taking place at home please provide a clear space, preferably a table, for the tutor to work with your child.
Please ensure that animals/pets are kept in a separate room from the tuition.
Children need to be fully dressed for their sessions, comfortable clothing is fine but please no pyjamas.
For tuition in the home a parent or responsible adult needs to remain present at all times.
What checks do you do?
We have a thorough registration and vetting process that all of our tutors are required to undertake. This involves us requesting:
-
Copies of ID
-
Right to work in UK checks
-
Copies of qualifications
-
Enhanced DBS check on the update service, which is checked daily
-
2 professional references
-
Safeguarding Level 2 training
-
Prevent Duty Training
-
Prohibition check undertaken
-
Interview process with 2 members of our team
-
Online check
What is the cancellation policy?
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full. Tutors make every effort to be flexible and rearrange lessons whenever possible.

If you wish to finish tuition completely, we ask for 2 weeks notice.
How do I pay for lessons?
We use an online calendar platform (Tutor Cruncher) which you will receive access to once you have agreed tuition. Payment is taken after each lesson. You can store your card details to automate this process to make it really easy.
How much do lessons cost?
The exact cost varies, depending on the subject, level taught and the qualifications and experience of the tutor.

As a general guide it is between £35-£45 per hour lesson. Before you commit to lessons we will confirm the cost with you.
